At Anchor Psychiatric Group, we believe exceptional psychiatric care begins with understanding the communities we serve—not only through clinical expertise, but through cultural awareness, respect, and meaningful relationships. That’s part of why we’re proud to have Dr. Cherie Murray as part of our team. Dr. Murray brings both her medical expertise and a personal connection to Alaska that runs deep. She’s married to a Bethel Alaska raised native and has friends and family throughout Alaska.
“Alaska has become an important part of my life through my family, and becoming licensed to practice here reflects my commitment to the people and communities that make this state so special. As an American Indian physician, I value caring for patients in a way that honors each person’s culture, respects their experiences, and builds trust through genuine partnership. I believe that meaningful mental health care begins with listening, understanding, and meeting people where they are.”
We built Anchor because we saw real gaps in psychiatric and addiction medicine access across rural and tribal Alaska. Having team members like Dr. Murray—with genuine relationships and a deep commitment to these communities—helps shape how we approach care: with humility, compassion, and the understanding that trust is earned through respect and consistency.
